I'm Ben, a photographer based in Washington.
At heart, I'm a photojournalist. I enjoy being around people and places and paying attention to what unfolds in front of me. There's something satisfying about recognizing a moment, composing it, and getting the photograph right as it happens.
I care about composition, light, timing, and making thoughtful decisions before I press the shutter. I like photographs that feel considered while still feeling true to the moment.
Outside of photography, I'm usually spending time with my wife and dog, enjoying the mountains, working on something around the house, or looking for a little thrill here and there. I like being around life when it's actually happening—and I suppose that's part of why I like photographing it.
Every session is different, so I like to start with a conversation.
